Throughout the United States, The Genessee Travelers have become one of America's most
outstanding gospel sensations. C. I. Wiggins formed the group in Evanston, Illinois,
in 1965. Early on, the group followed in the footsteps of the famous "Swanee
Quintet"
of Augusta, Georgia, but before long they developed a unique sound of their own,
which is still prominent today.
The
Genessee Travelers recently celebrated 35 years of singing with their
new 2000 release album "Praise Him." Over the years,
personnel changes have occurred and the following members of The
Genessee Travelers at one time included the late Robert Blackshear, the
late Paul Grey, The Late Willie Clark, Paul Lampkin, and the late Franklin
Jenkins Jr.
